Bishop Museum
Guests in Oahu looking to soak in more about Hawaii’s culture and history really should make a point of stopping by the Bishop Museum, rain or shine.
The museum, whose doors first opened back in 1896, is home to more than 24 million items in it’s archives and collections. Each documentened item showcases the rich history of Hawaii and the creatures that make up its ecosystem, plantlife and culture of its native people.

Founded in 1927, The Honolulu Museum of Art is perfect for rainy days in Hawaii.
This museum features notable works from all over the Oceania region of the world, as well as rare collectables from Africa, Europe, the Americas. The Honolulu Museum of Art is also home to a massive collection of Japanese ukiyo-e prints. As of 2019, the Honolulu Museum of Art has collected a total of over 50,000 individual pieces spanning 5,000 years in its permanent collection. No easy feat!

Iolani Palace
An iconic piece of architecture, the Iolani Palace in Honolulu is a building that after being built in the early 1800s, served several generations of Hawaiian kings and their courts. Over the years that Hawaii was run by a royal family, the palace itself was rebuilt and redesigned several times until it’s final state was constructed in 1879 a design still viewable today. Fun Fact: Iolani Palace is known to have had electricity and telephones installed several years before the White House in Washington DC did!
